Welcome

Welcome to Wattlebray Charbrays situated NE of Chinchilla on the Western Downs, owned and operated by Trevor and Lolita Ford and family who are third generation breeders of Charbray seed stock.

We have been super busy here at Wattlebray, but as they say “do what you love and you won`t work a day in your life.”

Last year we made our Inaugural trip to the Black Stump Invitational Sale at Blackall and exceeded our expectations when we topped the sale with Wattlebray Swepson selling for $23 500.

Quickly we swapped the sale ring for the show ring with our local Jandowae Show first up before the Charbray Societies Inaugural Young Beef Breeders Bash held at Miles, where we supplied a number of the cattle. Another successful trip to the Wandoan Show before heading to our first ever Charbray Feature at the Callide Valley Show. Our team managed to come away with Senior and Grand Female, Reserve Senior Female, Junior Champion Bull and Junior Champion Female. Then quickly back to Miles and Chinchilla Shows before the Leading Genetics Female Sale where we offered two of our show heifers and managed to secure top and second top price in consecutive years.

In September Wattlebray Starlight topped the National Charbray Sale at $32 500 selling to Andrew & Annie Hacon of Cubbaroo Station Cloncurry.

While we have enjoyed recent success at the National Sales and in the show ring it hasn’t happened overnight nor by chance. It all started in the early 70’s with Stan Ford`s “Wattlebra” Charolais Stud before Eric & Joan Ford began “EJ Charbrays” in 1977 then the Wattlebray prefix was registered by Trevor in 1995.

Full proven pedigrees and constant selection criteria over these generations using Charbray sires is the reason our C5 & C6 sires will deliver you predictability and consistency every time.

Our emphasis is breeding predictable, consistent and functional Certified Charbrays. Breeding fertile bulls from fertile females through our “calf or carcass policy” and maintaining an efficient productive cow herd is our philosophy for success.

In herd performance recording, scan data, semen testing, J Bas 7 and vaccination with 3 Germ Blood, 3 Day Sickness, 5 in 1 and Botulism is our commitment to insure your sire delivers outstanding results.

Genetic gain equates to financial gain… Make It Count… With Predictable and Consistent Genetics… Invest in a Wattlebray sire today.

Bulls are offered annually at the National Charbray Bull & Female Sale conducted at CQLX Gracemere in September each year, as well as privately on property.
